standard rooms are a bit small but with good price value ratio; extremely kind and attentive staff; stunning nature and picturesque setting. the food is good too (we had breakfast - a lot of everything! and dinner). they have small sauna (finnish and infrared), which is included service and the fact you don't have to pay the alpine road fee is good too.

Well, once in your lifetime take the chance to stay overnight in this small but wonderful hotel. There is a sauna room on the 4th floor, to get there just mention your reservation at the station down at Malta Hochalmstraße to get a free passage on the pay road.
Good 3 stars hotel with amazing views to mountains and the highest in Austria dam. Good service and breakfast. Nice terrace and restaurant.
No doubt fantastic and unique place to stay. You have to drive via caves and mountains to get there.

This is a very special place. Do not expect highly decorative rooms and opulent dishes.
What you should expect is the vastness and beauty of nature around. Hotel is situated at 1933 m above sea level. Well above the height in which trees can grow. Pretty remote from closest populated place.
So expect the wild nature of mountains, quick weather changes, wind, darkness at night that allows you to see stars you never could have seen due to "light polution" in densely populated areas. For us, lowlands men, this is quite an astonishing place.
And the hotel fits. Nice (the modern clean design surprisingly fits among the rocky peaks around), clean, without unnecessary luxury, equipped with all you need, with friendly staff and a good cook who prepares traditional quisine.
What mode could you need?
We had a fast lunch only after the montain walking. There is a huge terrace, but tables are inside as well.
A beautiful piece of the world :). I recommend purchasing the option for driving by car (€21); it's an amazing experience.
After the whole day trip up the Malta Hochstrasse and hiking around the dam we ate very fine dinner at the hotels restaurant
